Warrington School

by Jeff Burrow, Principal

Congratulations to all Warrington School runners who qualified and ran in the Otago Cross Country Championships two weeks ago. It was wonderful to see how well we were able to compete with all the other schools throughout Otago. It was a new experience for some and for others it was a chance to be able to test themselves against the best in Otago. Well done!

Well done to all the participants in this year's Children's Marathon Challenge. There was a great atmosphere at Logan Park and Forsyth Barr Stadium. Thank you to parents and caregivers for making the effort to get to Dunedin so early in the morning.

We have a school full of very fit children at the moment after all of our running training, cross country and fun run racing. Well done to everyone on their sensational effort with raising so much money with our sponsored fun run. We managed to raise $1200. A big thank you to parents, family, friends and members of the local community for their support and generosity. All the money raised will go towards new sports uniforms for our hockey, miniball and futsal teams.

We had a great turnout for our Otago 'Blue and Gold' and 'All Black Supporters' days over the last couple of weeks. The children all looked fantastic and had great fun practicing and competing in kicking, passing and catching games and competitions.

With the miniball and hockey seasons coming to an end, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Cotton and Mrs Russell for sharing their expertise and organising their respective teams throughout the season. Also a big thank you to all the parents who have helped with transport and who have supported the teams this season.
