Carey's Creek Track

By George Sutherland, Green Hut Track Group

Undoubtedly one of the prettiest tramps in our region, Carey's Creek track suffers from a lack of feet so it tends to become overgrown. Green Hut Track Group workers have spent hundreds of hours working on this track and are currently trying to construct an easy passage through the giant slip in the middle. The difficulty of this section seems to have put many people off tramping right through. However, we appeal to locals to walk along the track as far as they are able and then return to their start; in this way the track will be kept walkable.

There is nothing more disheartening for a track-worker than finding a track not being used. Please use and enjoy this beautiful gorge-walk and make our job worthwhile.
Green Hut Track Group has been working in the Silverpeaks area since last century, trying to maintain the many kilometres of walking tracks. Currently, we have nine workers who spend each Wednesday maintaining these tracks. You are welcome to join us for a look, or to help. Phone 467 5999 for more information.
