Corrected times for Carols at St Barnabas Church

Christmas carol singing at St Barnabas Church, Warrington starts at
9pm, Christmas Eve (Thursday 24 December). Holy Communion will follow

Summer Pruning Workshop

Summer Pruning Workshop: fruit tree and berry bushes

Summer pruning is great for encouraging fruiting of established trees and
shrubs, it helps keep them small (great for espaliers) and discourages
watershoots.

At the Summer Pruning Workshop on Waitangi Day, Saturday 6 February,
you will learn hands-on as you practise summer pruning of fruit trees
and berries.

We will prune:

plums

apples

pears

blackcurrants

gooseberries

grapes

raspberries

Bring warm clothes, gloves and sharp secateurs.

Blueskin Bay radio news for Friday Dec 11

Puketapu Radio presents Blueskin Bay local news in association with blueskin.co.nz

Tonight is the special late night Seacliff Market, on from 5 till 8pm. It is an excellent opportunity to buy locally made Christmas gifts or stock up on goodies for the holiday weekend. Buy bunches of fabulous peonies, take home special baked Christmas treats or buy hand-turned wooden toys for the children. Free stalls are available and kids’ stalls are welcome. The next market will be held on Sunday January 3.

On Monday, Gallery on Blueskin is holding a special Christmas thank you for loyal customers and friends. To celebrate, there will be

Christmas jazz in the courtyard from 6 - 8pm along with wine and cake.

Also working hard on Monday is local MP, Pete Hodgson. He’s holding his last community clinic of the year on Monday at the Blueskin library, Waitati at 2.30pm. He would be delighted to see any constituents wanting to wish him a merry Christmas.

Christmas carols can be heard and enjoyed at St Barnabas church, Warrington on Christmas Eve, at 9.45pm. This will be followed at 10am the next morning with a special Christmas Day service. All welcome.

This is the last Blueskin News for the year. We will be back in 2010. We wish everyone living in the Blueskin Bay area and all Puketapu Radio listeners a happy and safe holiday season.

Justice of the Peace Services now available in Waitati

Blueskin Bay librarian and Waitati resident Louise Booth is a now a
Justice of the Peace and is legally able to:

- Witness signatures
- Certify documents
- Take declarations, affidavits or affirmations
- Citizen applications
- Process of applications for the dissolution of marraige or civil union

Gallery on Blueskin: Christmas Jazz

Blueskin Bay radio news for Friday Dec 11.

Blueskin Playcentre’s 50th anniversary afternoon tea is on at the Waitati Hall tomorrow afternoon at 2. Bring a plate, your photos and your early childhood memories to help put together the Playcentre’s history.

Also tomorrow is the Blueskin Garden Club’s Christmas get-together at Warrington. The fun starts at 6pm.

The annual general meeting of the Waitati Hall Committee is being held on Tuesday at 7pm. New members are particularly welcome.

Wednesday is the last day of term at Waitati School, although pupils at Warrington stay on until Friday.

Next Friday, that’s the 18th, a special late night Seacliff Market will be held from 5 till 8pm. Gallery on Blueskin invites you to the opening of "Islands & Islets", new and exciting work by Maria Mackay of Warrington. The opening is being held tonight from 6pm.

Sunday is your next-to-last chance to buy local gifts for Christmas at Seacliff market. If you haven’t yet been, you’re missing a treat. You’ll find the freshest produce from Roger Blok of Purakaunui, preserves from Waitati’s Village Potager and don’t forget to try Rudi’s delicious pakoras. Open from 11 till 2, the Coast Rd market is well worth a pre-Christmas visit.

The next meeting of Blueskin Bay Radio is on Wednesday December 9 at 7 p.m. It will be held at the studio at Warrington School. As this project is just in its start-up phase, everyone who has an interest is welcome.

The last Waitati Film Society movie of the year is Boudou Saved from Drowning. This French classic will be shown at Bill’s Place, Orokonui Rd, from 8pm on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday night is the final Qi-Gong class for the year. It will be held at the Waitati Hall at 6.30pm.
