Blueskin Bay radio news for Friday December 5

Blueskin Bay radio news for Friday December 5

Bargain-hunters will be spoilt for choice this weekend with two markets being held locally. The Waitati School Fair will be held from 11am to 3pm on Sunday. The fair includes magic shows, horse rides, a scarecrow competition and kids car rides, plus all the usual stalls. Meanwhile, over at Seacliff, the Coast Road Market is being held between 11am and 2pm.

This evening sees the opening of a new exhibition of still life studies from the garden, by Jenna Packer. The opening begins at 6pm at Gallery on Blueskin in Waitati.

Friday December 5 is also Surf Lifesaving Jandal Day, during which funds are raised for Warrington Surf Lifesaving Club. Despite the variable weather, the club has already begun its summer beach patrols, so swim between the flags to keep safe. The club’s next meeting is being held on Monday at 7.30pm

Next Thursday, December 11th, there’s a meeting to look at setting up Neighbourhood Support groups in the Blueskin area. In attendance will be Neighbourhood Support regional coordinator, Sarah Hexamer, the Fire Service and Age Concern. The meeting will begin at Waitati Hall with a pot luck meal at 6pm and will run until around 9pm.

The Waitati Film Society’s offering next week is the Australian comedy, Muriel’s Wedding. It’s a good chance for anyone who hasn’t seen it to enjoy some light entertainment. Start time is 8pm, at Bill’s place on the corner of Orokonui and Mt Cargill Roads. It will be the Society’s last movie of the year.
