Rising Electricity Costs: Town in Transition

Subject: Energy

Wed, 22 Oct 2008 at 7:30pm

Hosted by the Waitati Energy Project, an expert panel including
Jeanette Fitzsimons will discuss local energy issues, implications, and future
challenges and solutions.

The Waitati Energy Project is a community led initiative inspired by
the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment's 'Get smart, think
small' report and seeks to build energy resilience through the
development of an integrated local energy system.

What are the opportunities? What are the challenges? Encompassing
strategies and visions on at least three different levels: community,
industry and policy, this forum asks what householders and small
communities can do to protect themselves from the external shocks
linked to rising energy costs, uncertainty of supply, and complicated
supply chains.

Questions invited, all welcome.
