The water treatment and addition of fluoride occurs back at the treatment
plant. It is then piped throughout Dunedin. It is not economically viable to
remove the fluoride from the supply to Blueskin Bay, unless it is removed
from all of Dunedin's water supply.
I agree there are two very strong sides to this debate. But talk of
conspiracy is a silly addition to the debate and should be ignored. The main
1. We (via our rates) spend lots of money on adding fluoride to our water.
2. There is no clear winner on the scientific debate of whether fluoride
should be added.
3. If my neighbours in Blueskin Bay want any chance of stopping the addition
of fluoride they will need to see what other cities in NZ do and to make
this a Dunedin wide issue.
4. Avoid talking about conspiracies; you'll end up sounding like a nutter -
this will side track the debate.
