Opinion: more thoughts on Broadband

I understand that work will shortly start on the installation of a
pipeline to bring drinkable water from Dunedin to the Waitati to
Waikouaiti areas.

While the equipment is doing all that digging, would it be possible to
drop a fibre optic cable in the trench alongside the pipe and bring
broadband to Waitati, Warrington, Karitane and Waikouaiti areas. This
would also contribute positively to the council's, plan for a 'wired
Dunedin'. After all we are still part of Dunedin City!

Then, perhaps, how about wireless internet access from the local
council centres, for example wireless internet hubs on the Blueskin
Library and the Waikouaiti Library.
