Warrington chickens fly the coop

Five Warrington free-range chickens took 'free range' to a new
interpretation when they aviated along with their chicken house across
a Park Road paddock during the big overnight snow and wind storm of
23-24 June. One hen was injured: lame in one leg, she is recovering in
isolation in a small battery cage. The chickens' owner, who did not
wish to be named, described their predicament as "something like being
in a tumble-dryer set on cold." The chicken house has been set upright
and roped to a nearby tree. What most impressed the owner was the two
eggs (found still intact) laid by the hens during their ordeal.
