Blueskin Playcentre (Waitati) April newsletter

Kia ora Tatou, greetings to everyone

We are enjoying nice weather at Playcentre. There has been plenty of
water play with some interesting cooking experiments that go with
that. The sandpit is also seeing lots of action. It's nice to be able
to have sessions with all the doors open. Hopefully this can continue
for a bit longer.

There has been some sorting in the Playcentre garden. The children
worked hard with Michelle to get our garden ready for new plants. Once
the garden patch was cleared we planned a trip to the Blueskin
Nursery. The children enjoyed picking out vegetables and we were
gifted some beautiful flowers by the nursery. The children loved
having a shared tea at the Café as well. Thank you Blueskin Nursery
for the warm welcome and wonderful plants. The centre now has some
great colours throughout the playground.

The centre took advantage of the sunny days in Term One. We went for a
walk towards the Tallest Tree. The children worked hard to step
through the tall grass and stopped for a nice picnic on the path. It
was a special walk and we were able to hear the river next to the
path. We also had a lovely sausage sizzle at Doctors Point Beach. The
children enjoyed digging giant holes and just playing with the sand.
We were able to participate in the Pet Day at Waitati School as well.

When not on big adventures the children have been busy exploring and
being creative with boxes and water. There have been box cities at
Playcentre, beautiful shiny box cars and scary buckets of poison.
There were lots of baby washing and cooking up brews.

Our younger members at Playcentre are growing so quickly. There is a
lot of rolling around, crawling and teething. It is all go for these
little ones. It is wonderful to have so many under-2s. There are a few
first birthdays to celebrate within the next few months.

We are planning a town visit to a fire station and a museum. We are
also hoping to have a police visit to our centre to talk about road
safety. There is a possible trip out to Port Chalmers as well.
Playcentre will be selling waffles and running the noddy train at the
A&P Show. We look forward to seeing you all there.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY Tat and Albert! They are now big 5-year-olds
and are both at Waitati School. We miss you both at Playcentre. We
look forward to your visits back to Playcentre with your new class.

We would like to welcome Belinda & Tamasin and Jenny & Kezia to our
Playcentre family. We look forward to getting to know you all.
